Policosanol Extract

Policosanol (polycosanol) is the common term for the natural extract of plant waxes. Policosanol is one such agent currently in use in more than 25 countries throughout the world to reduce elevated LDL-cholesterol in patients with hypercholesterolemia. Policosanol is a mixture of aliphatic primary alcohols isolated and purified from natural waxes.

It is used as a nutritional supplement which is supposed to lower LDL cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol) and increase HDL cholesterol ("good" or "healthy" cholesterol) and also help to prevent atherosclerosis.

Policosanol is a combination of a few fatty alcohols derived from the waxes of plants like sugar cane and the wax of rice bran etc. the product has been widely in demand in the market as it helps in reducing the LDL cholesterol.
